2015 Outlook: Quality BackupLast updated on Dec-13-2015 by Shawn Childs
Week 14 DFS Update (12/13): The difference in winning a huge prize in the season long contest sometimes comes down to one decision. I had a team in a high stakes event that I lost in Week 11 by one half point when Rob Gronkowski was outscored by Stephen Gostkowski vs. the Bills on Monday night. This loss pushed me to third in the standings and cost me a locked spot in the championship round. I now had to win my way into the next round of the playoffs. I won my match in Week 12. In the finals, my team scored 171 points, which wins 99 percent of the time in these type of contests. My opponent finished with 190.30 Fantasy points. In the end, my failure was due to the QB position. Mr. Tannehill came up short and the Dolphins couldn't get the putrid Ravens off the field. My ace in the hole was Marcus Mariota. Over the last six games, Tannehill only has one game with more than two TDs (twice on the year). He has four 300-yard passing games (all on the road). The Giants allow the 3rd-most Fantasy points to QBs, with no team scoring over 30 Fantasy points. This is another favorable matchup and WR DeVante Parker is starting to flash upside. For me, I have to run for cover.
Week 13 DFS Update (12/3): After coming up empty over the first two and half quarters, Tannehill was able to solve the Jets' pass defense late to finish with his best game (351 yards and three TDs) since Week 7. He has two TDs or less in nine of his 11 starts, with four 300-yard passing games. The Ravens allow the 3rd-most Fantasy points to QBs, with three teams scoring over 30 Fantasy points. Over the last three games, Baltimore has held QBs to 603 combined yards and five TDs. Very favorable matchup with a value price.
UPDATE (10/8): The expectation that Ryan Tannehill would climb the ladder and develop into a QB1 this season hasn't played out. If anything, the Dolphins have taken a step back due in large part to a struggling offensive line. Until their o-line shows signs of life, Tannehill is limited to a bye week-fill in only when the matchup tilts in his favor.
Tannehill set career highs in attempts, completions, completion percentage, passing yards and touchdowns last year. He also registered a career-low 14 turnovers. Poor pass blocking (104 sacks taken) has been his biggest obstacle to more success. Ryan's legs led to him setting a career high in rushing attempts (56) and rushing yards (311). He had a five-game stretch in which he ran for 227 yards. His receiving corps was almost completely overhauled with only Jarvis Landry returning as a starter. Kenny Stills, Jordan Cameron and DeVante Parker will offer high upside in all areas. Miami fans are hoping a strong defense and a solid running game will give the Dolphins many leads and allow Tannehill to continue his upward growth. His running ability paired with his improved accuracy gives him a chance to be a top-12 fantasy QB in 2015. His success will ultimately depend on the development of his receivers and an improvement in pass-blocking by his offensive line.

|11.05||Scout Fantasy - @mattkdelima - Great QB value at this stage of the draft. Not huge on Tannehill but he's a safe choice considering all the weapons he now has in Miami. (Comments Added Wed Aug 5 12:34:35 a.m. ET 2015)|
