2015 Outlook: Deep-league OnlyLast updated on Jun-17-2015 by Shawn Childs
This cat has killed Fantasy owners in back-to-back seasons. In his 2012 rookie year, Richardson looked like a workhorse back as he gained 1,317 yards and 12 touchdowns on 318 touches, including 51 receptions. He has caught 62 balls over the past two years, but he has looked extremely pedestrian when asked to run the ball (347 carries for 1,073 yards, 3.1 yards per rush). In his three years at the University of Alabama, Richardson averaged 5.8 yards per rush. Last year, he had some quit in him, and the Colts suspended him for his conduct. A change of scenery could serve him well, but he also needs more motivation. His recent poor showings could be a sign that his career is about to an end at age 24. But he's still so young, and a fresh outlook may lead to much better results than expected. He'll basically be free in drafts. Trent will be worth a flier if reports on him this summer are positive
Since having a decent rookie season, which was more quantity than quality, Trent Richardson has been one of the most monstrous disappointments in recent history. He has averaged only 3.3 yards per carry in his career. The Raiders signed him this offseason after the Colts soured on and suspended him for the AFC Championship game last season, which came after he was made inactive for the previous playoff game. Oakland believes he still has potential and they may be able to help turn his career around. However, the San Francisco Chronicle reports that things are not going well stating, "Latavius Murray will get every chance to be the lead running back as whispers are that the Trent Richardson reclamation project is not going so well."
We have a new candidate for least surprising news of the offseason. Oakland isn't a place where struggling players go to turn things around. T-Rich has been nightmarishly bad since he was traded to the Colts early in his sophomore campaign. Although some people will still roll the dice on Richardson, he has approximately zero fantasy value. There is no reason to draft Richardson, things are only going to go from miserable to horrific for him in Oakland.
