2016 Outlook: Sleeper (undervalued)

Last updated on Jul-27-2016 by Shawn Childs

After missing all of 2014, Jones set a career high in catches (65), receiving yards (816), and targets (103). In a way, his move to Detroit parallels the path of Golden Tate. The Bengals only attempted 31.5 pass attempts per game in 2015 compared to 39.5 by Detroit. This is more than a 20 percent growth in opportunity. Marvin also flashed big play and TD ability in 2013 when he scored 10 TDs despite only catching 51 passes. Last year Jones had five catches or more in seven games and only one double target game. This season Marvin should push his way to the 80 catch level with a chance at 1000 yards receiving. The Lions don't have strength behind him at WR or a TE, so Jones looks to be the number three option in the passing game behind Tate and the RB position.

Month Position Franchise/Comments
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #1
June 12th, 2016
7.09 Matt De Lima - Marvin Jones finally put together a relatively healthy season and should see his targets and opportunities increase within a more pass-happy offense.
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #2
June 27th, 2016
6.06 Scout Fantasy - Matt De Lima - Trust is big in Fantasy Football. And the community doesn't yet trust Jones. But if you look around at the WRs in this range, he has by far the best potential. John Brown is a WR3. DeSean Jackson is wildly inconsistent. Corey Coleman is one of nine rookies who could blow up for Cleveland. Jones is a WR2 on a team that is definitely going to throw the ball a ton.
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #3
August 10th, 2016
7.01 Rotocurve - Michael Rathburn - Jones signed for big money to help fill the void of Calvin Johnson retiring. Stafford will sling it a ton, and he was really good under Cooter. Jones has been a big time red zone machine, and I think he has a shot at 8-10 TD.
