2016 Outlook: Gamble (high risk)Last updated on Aug-30-2016 by Shawn Childs
Update (8/30): Green's early season Fantasy value is zero after being placed on the PUP list. He will miss (at least) the first six weeks of the regular season.
Update (8/11): Ladarius Green has been experiencing persistent headaches. The team had been saying Green was still recovering from offseason ankle surgery. Multiple sources are now saying these headaches are such a problem that they could force Green to retire.
Green has spent his first four seasons in the NFL in the shadows of Antonio Gates leading to 77 catches for 1087 yards and seven TDs on 122 targets in his 47 games played. Over the first six games of 2015, Ladarius had a starting opportunity which led to 26 catches for 304 yards and four TDs on 36 targets. This year he'll take over the starting TE job for the Steelers with Heath Miller hanging up his cleats. Last season Pittsburgh completed 70 passes to the TE position on 95 targets for 601 yards and three TDs. Over his 11 year career in the NFL with Roethlisberger throwing him the ball, Miller averaged 3.5 catches per game for 39 yards and 0.27 TDs or about nine Fantasy points per game in PPR leagues. Heath had six seasons with 50 catches or more. Green should have a 50+ catch opportunity in 2016 with some winnable value in multiple games. His upside is somewhat limited due to the low volume of chances left over behind Brown and Bell.
