2015 Outlook: Super Sleeper (high risk/potential)

Last updated on Jun-18-2015 by Shawn Childs

Fantasy owners were buying the Green juice in 2014 draft season as many expected Gates to fade off into the sunset. Ladarius barely had a pulse last year (29/226 with no TDs on 25 targets). He battled a hamstring injury early in the year and Green struggled with an ankle injury over the second half of the year. A concussion in early December led to minimal playing time late in the year. Ladarius brings big play ability to the TE position, but he has no fantasy value or opportunity with Gates healthy.

Latest Update

Jul-05-15 Chargers WR Stevie Johnson expected to see more targets with Antonio Gates suspended

Along with Ladarius Green, Stevie Johnson is expected to be one of the top beneficiaries of Antonio Gates' four-game suspension for violating the league's PED policy. Not only is Johnson expected to see a heavy increase in targets, he has the fire and desire to earn the respect he believes he deserves. "I don't want to guarantee anything," said Johnson, "but you'll see a different player, as far as attitude goes. I feel like it's time to level up and get that respect that I know I should be getting … Besides in Buffalo, where it took me a couple of years to play. I kind of got that back. Going home to San Francisco and them not playing me how I know I should have and they know, the people around me, the players know I should have been playing … yeah, I definitely feel that fire inside … I know what I can do. I don't need people to talk about it but at this point … it's about respect now. It's not about the yards that I have. It's about going out there and dominating."

Fantasy Analysis:

Johnson could regain fantasy relevance with the Chargers much like Eddie Royal did. There are no clear-cut top targets to eat up a ton of guaranteed targets. He's currently being drafted as the WR75. He is an absolute steal that late. I see his ceiling being a flex option, however, he's more likely to be a bye week fill-in or emergency injury replacement. Johnson has high-bust potential after struggling mightily in San Francisco last year, but, with his current ADP there's very little risk involved.
