2014 Outlook: Deep-league OnlyLast updated on Jun-23-2014 by Kimra Schleicher
Travaris Cadet is locked into the RBBC in the backfield. With the departure of Darren Sproles, Cadet will see more opportunities as a pass-catching back. His value lies as a handcuff to Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson. I would not draft Cadet in a 20-round redraft league, but I would draft him in a draft masters format if I had already taken Thomas or Robinson for my team. He is a late round flier and could emerge as a deep sleeper with an injury to Thomas or Robinson. He is fourth on the depth chart, so draft accordingly.
New Orleans beat writer Mike Triplett tweeted Friday that running backs Pierre Thomas (rib/shoulder) and Khiry Robinson (forearm) will both miss Sunday night's tilt with the Green Bay Packers. With the RB tandem sidelined, the Saints will turn to Mark Ingram and Travaris Cadet to shoulder the rushing game load. Ingram returned from a hand injury in Week 7 and was the lead back. However, he only produced 16 yards on 10 carries against a stuffy Lions defense. Cadet figures to fill the Pierre Thomas role as a receiving back, as he's put up 15 catches for 129 yards and a touchdown over the past three games.Fantasy Analysis:
This should be a high-scoring game. The Saints are currently a 3 point favorite. With the Packers pass defense being much better than their run defense, you can almost bank on Ingram finding the endzone. With Robinson and Thomas out, he is a low-end RB2 option this week.
Cadet is also someone that may be worth a look this week. WIth the other two running backs out, he figures to be involved in the passing game. If TE Jimmy Graham ends up missing the game, or is limited in his snaps, this will also increase Cadet's value.
