2014 Outlook: Deep-league Only

Last updated on Jul-08-2014 by Daniel Kalles

Just like the rest of the Jacksonville running backs, Denard Robinson is another name not worth much consideration. The former Michigan Wolverines QB is still trying to get used to converting to running back. In his rookie year (even though the Jags lacked quality playmakers), he was only able to get 20 carries for a paltry 66 yards all while being active for all 16 games. Robinson will try and battle Jordan Todman for the backup running back spot, but don't count on it. Robinson is nothing more than a dynasty stash right now, but he may contribute here and there unexpectedly, giving him some very late round draft master value.

Latest Update

Apr-24-15 Jaguars RB Denard Robinson 'I should be a No. 1 guy'

Jaguars' running back Denard Robinson led the team in rushing last season and now believes he should be the 'No. 1 guy' in Jacksonville. Shoelace was a QB at Michigan and was officially listed as an OW last season. In many fantasy leagues he was even WR eligible. Now, coming off a foot injury, he believes he deserves to be the starting running back after being cleared for football activities. The Jags GM Dave Caldwell went as far to say that, If they rolled out the football today, Robinson would be the starter.' Robinson still knows he has a lot of work to do and much to prove. He does not feel entitled, just deserving. 'It's big. I want to show the team they can count on me,' Robinson said. 'Last year, I showed growth so people could say, That's not the same Denard. It's night and day. This year, I want them to say, Man, Denard has grown even more. '

Fantasy Analysis:

Robinson showed he can be a true duel-threat back last season. He is so fast and so dangerous. If he can stay healthy, Robinson is a no doubt RB2 with a ton of PPR value. The one concern is his durability. He's a small guy that many believed could not handle a full workload. The injured foot last season didn't help that stigma. Still, odds are he'll win that job and is worth a mid-round pick.
