Jonas Gray, RB, Patriots
There is no 2014 profile for this player yet.
Patriots running back Shane Vereen missed Friday's practice and landed on the Week 8 injury report with an undisclosed illness. He is, however, still fully expected to play in the team's Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears.
With RB Stevan Ridley out for the season, Vereen had a breakout game in Week 7, posting a stat line of 43 rushing yards, five catches for 71 yards and two touchdowns. If Vereen is playing, he figures to be the Patriots' lead back for the remainder of the season.
If Vereen can't go, expect Jonas Gray and Brandon Bolden to see the work at running back.Fantasy Analysis:
Vereen's main value is definitely in PPR leagues, where he is likely a low-end RB1/high-end RB2 this week against the Bears. Chicago's defense allows the eighth-most fantasy points to running backs in PPR formats. If Vereen can't go, whoever takes his place would be a fantasy reach, at best. We'll hope the reports are accurate and he plays. With the fact that the Pats have had an extra three days to prepare, it is likely that they completely pick apart the Bears' defense.
If Vereen can't go, expect it to be a busier day than normal for TE Rob Gronkowski and WR Julian Edelman.
