2016 Outlook: Solid/Safe Pick

Last updated on Aug-04-2016 by Shawn Childs

Over the first six games of 2015, C.J. played his way out of snaps by gaining only 2.7 yards per attempt with no TDs. He had two 100 yard rushing games over his 11 games while never receiving more than 19 touches in any game. Anderson had fewer ten carries in five of his last eight games, which added more and more frustration to Fantasy owners. His best run came in the playoffs when C.J. gained 273 combined yards with two TDs and nine catches on 21 touches per game. His ability to make big plays late in the season led to Anderson improving his yards per rush to 4.7 on the year (4.3 in the playoffs). For the year, the Broncos gave RBs 383 carries for 1664 yards and 12 rushing TDs plus 55 catches for 345 yards and no receiving TDs on 79 targets. His success late in the year gives him the inside for the lead role in 2016, but his game isn't that much better than Ronnie Hillman and Denver added a talented back in this season draft (Devontae Booker). There's a lot of moving parts leading to risk and reward. C.J. will have a tough time getting over 250 touches with an injury to Hillman. In the early draft season, Anderson is the 14th RB off the board. In June, he looks overpriced to me. In September with more info, C.J. may be a draft day bargain. The bottom line here: Anderson has to come into camp in much better shape.
