2015 Outlook:Last updated on Jun-09-2015 by Shawn Childs
Many football experts predict McCown will win the starting QB in Cleveland job. I don't agree. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave him a chance last year, but he went 1-10 while completing only 56.3 percent of his passes. He didn't have one game with more than two passing scores. In his 11 games, Josh threw for 2,206 yards with 11 TDs and 14 interceptions. In 2013, McCown flashed upside in the Chicago Bears' offense when Jay Cutler went down with an injury. McCown's success that year was driven by Chicago's offensive system and strong receiving personnel. The Browns barely throw to their running backs and have questionable talent at wide receiver and tight end. Manziel has a much better chance of keeping defenses honest due to his running upside. Josh is 17-32 as a starter through 12 NFL seasons. He'll be 36 in July. Even if he wins the starting job out of training camp, he won't keep it for the whole season. Josh has no fantasy upside in 2015.
Browns quarterback turned wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is still transitioning to his new position. He reportedly had a good first day of camp and many believe he could be a difference maker in Cleveland. His new starting quarterback Josh McCown believes he has the skill set to be a successful NFL wideout. "Obviously, the skill set is there," McCown said. "He's a big ole tall athlete and a guy that can run and all those things. Because of his athleticism, he catches the ball well. The things he has that you can't coach – height, weight, speed. Long strider that was chewing up ground when we were throwing. So he has that going for him. You hope that with those things you can't coach, we can coach up the other things … The familiarity with (offensive coordinator John DeFilippo) will help, too."Fantasy Analysis:
Pryor definitely has the athleticism, it's just a matter of him learning the position. The one thing he does have going for him, which many of the freakishly athletic WRs lack, is his 6-foot-4, 223 pound frame. Many of the athletes that have been falling on their faces as of late are smaller, whether it be height or weight. There is a decent chance that he could come in and have an immediate impact in the red zone. You shouldn't draft Pryor yet but he's definitely worth keeping a close eye on, he's an intriguing athlete.
