2014 Outlook: Solid/Safe PickLast updated on Jun-26-2014 by Rusty Reeves
White was about as tough as it gets last year. He missed two games on the season; a lesser man would have missed more time. Once he was at his healthiest, White averaged over eight catches and 100 yards in the last five games of the season. With running mate Julio Jones back, expect White to continue the 2014 season in the fashion he ended the 2013 year. Keep in mind at the time, he wanted to maintain his consecutive games streak. This stubbornness kept him on the field, but ultimately led to really underwhelming production. Back at full steam, White is a solid WR2.
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora tweeted Thursday afternoon that he doesn't expect Falcons wide receiver Roddy White to be active tonight against the Buccaneers due to his hamstring injury.
White didn't practice this week, but beat reports presented no concern that he would miss Week 3, and head coach Mike Smith said the 10-year veteran didn't need to practice in order to play. We will know White's official status when the inactives list for this game becomes public in about an hour.
What do these practice reports and beat writer opinions mean anymore? First, there was Doug Martin, who practiced all week, but it looks like he will spend tonight on the sidelines. His last-minute inactivation in Week 2 followed a very similar path. And now there's White. Granted, he didn't practice, but no one gave a sense before Thursday that there was even a chance he might not play play tonight. Alas, here we are.
If White is out, Julio Jones is going to be a target monster, and Harry Douglas moves onto the WR3 radar. The Falcons are seemingly always more productive at home, and there's nothing scary about this matchup versus Tampa Bay.

He tried to come back from his injury too quickly in 2013, but even at the end of the season you could see White getting his legs back. I expect White to be a Top-12 WR again in 2014.|
