2015 Outlook: Over the Hill (decreased production)

Last updated on Aug-20-2015 by Shawn Childs

Over the past two years, there has been a lot of decline in White's game due to injuries. In his last 27 outings, Roddy has averaged only 11.4 yards per catch compared to 14.0 yards through his first eight seasons. I'd love to say White is poised for a bounce-back season, but the list of issues with him is growing. In 2014, Roddy struggled with an ankle issue for the second straight year and came down with knee and hamstring injuries as well. He'll turn 34 in November. He had five catches or more in 10 of his 14 games and two 100-yard performances. White has six 1,000-yard seasons and seven 80-catch campaigns to his credit. There's no doubt Roddy is going to get plenty of targets if he can stay healthy. His willingness to play through injuries is a positive. It wouldn't surprise me to see him post another year with 80 receptions, 1,000-plus yards and a solid amount of touchdowns. He has a WR2 opportunity for sure if his body holds up. His early ADP is 67, making him the 28th WR selected. His resume is long enough to where he could be a nice value pick if he is overlooked on draft day.

Oct-06-15 Falcons WR Roddy White is not happy with the role in his offense this season

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White is not getting many looks this season. He has been one of the most consistently productive wideouts for about eight years, however, this season he has only six receptions on 13 targets. He's yet to total 100 yards or catch a touchdown pass. Needless to say, White is not happy with his diminished role in the Falcons' offense. "For me, at the end of the day, I want to catch passes," White said. "I'm not out here just f---ing around just to sit around to just block f---ing people all day. It's not what I want to do … I've contributed to offenses for this franchise for the last nine, 10 years. It always bothers me when I go out and don't catch any balls in a game because it hasn't happened in so long … I just have to stick in there and bear with it; just continue to do my job. And hopefully, Matt (Ryan) will throw me some balls. I've watched the film. We've watched the film weeks and weeks and that's not a problem, me not getting open. I'm open, but it's not in the progression. Matt's not looking at it, and that's the type of guy he is. He's a 1-2-3 progression guy. We don't get off script, which is good. We've been winning that way for a very long time, so we've got to be consistent."

Fantasy Analysis:

White has been notably absent from Fantasy lineups this season. He has been an excellent option for so long that it's kind of strange. It appears age and injuries have caught up with the veteran wideout. He is no longer a viable Fantasy option in any format. He could possibly evolve into a low-cost, high-upside DFS option at some point if he begins to see more passes thrown his way. Still, this could be the end of the line for the soon-to-be 34-year-old wideout.

4.09 Fantasy Taz - Another player people are really down on, not sure I follow that thinking. After years of being superhuman with no missed games, he finally got hurt and missed some time. He tried to come back from his injury too quickly in 2013, but even at the end of the season you could see White getting his legs back. I expect White to be a Top-12 WR again in 2014.
