2016 Outlook: Over the Hill (decreased production)

The three-headed monster at RB for Philly did hurt the upside of Sproles in the passing game in 2015. He struggled to run the ball (83/317/3 - 3.8 yards per rush) while catching 55 of his 83 targets (66.2 percent - way too low for a RB) for 388 yards and a TD. Last season head coach Doug Pederson made the offensive calls for the Chargers, which led to 172 targets to the RB position. This falls in line with Bradford's game as he looks to dump the ball off to the running back position. Darren starts the year at age 33 with plenty of experience catching the ball out of the backfield. His opportunity in the passing game should grow by at least 20 percent giving him a chance at 65+ receptions for 500+ yards with some value in TDs and running the ball. The RB position tends to be a young man's game, so I would be careful and not overpay with the fresher legs of Wendell Smallwood waiting in the wings.

Month Position Franchise/Comments
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #1
June 12th, 2016
11.04 Doug Moore - Sproles has averaged just under 50 receptions over his two seasons for the Eagles and could have the opportunity to improve on that. And in a PPR league, that can be valuable.
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #2
June 27th, 2016
11.06 Mastersball - Perry Van Hook - Sproles is not only a good PPR running back but does give me some Ryan Matthews insurance. A few return touchdowns when he is in my lineup will be a bonus.
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #3
August 10th, 2016
13.05 Cowboys HQ - Matthew Postins - Always dependable, Sproles is capable of giving you great spot production and helping you on defense and special teams, too. At this point, the value was too great to ignore.
