2016 Outlook: Bust (overvalued)

Last updated on Oct-07-2016 by Shawn Childs

Update (10/3): Forsett was released by the Ravens again.

After his breakthrough season in 2014 at age 28, Forsett was unimpressive over nine full games last year (768 combined yards with two TDs and 31 catches on 182 touches). He only averaged 4.9 yards per catch after posting a weak season in this area (6.0) in 2014 as well. His season ended in Week 11 due to a broken right arm. He did play well in two games in 2015 (27/150 and 170 combined yards with four catches and a TD). In his NFL career, Justin averaged 4.9 yards per rush, but he only has one season of value. The Ravens expect him to be with the team in 2016 with a full recovery from his leg injury. His upside is now limited with more upside RB talent on the roster. Baltimore has invested multiple picks for the RB position over the last two seasons so Forsett may be a one hit wonder in the Fantasy world. Even if he is named the starter, I will buy insurance in this backfield while focusing on the younger backs with impact value.

Month Position Franchise/Comments
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #1
June 12th, 2016
10.05 Brad Kruse - Forsett is the veteran returning from injury and led the team in yard per carry last year. If he can hold off Buck Allen and the others this could be a steal.
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #2
June 27th, 2016
10.01 Fantasy Guru - Tom Brolley - He has plenty of competition for touches this year, but he should still lead this RBBC for at least the early part of the season. Forsett has the potential to catch 40 passes in Marc Trestman’s offense.
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #3
August 10th, 2016
10.04 Football Diehards - Justin Lonero - Hoping for Forsett to match his 2014 stats seem to be a far cry in a cloudy Ravens platoon. As my fourth running back, he could be a diamond in the rough.
