2014 Outlook: Bye Week Fill-inLast updated on Jun-26-2014 by Larry Gold
TAKE A CHANCE: Perhaps a change of scenery is just what Hakeem Nicks needed. His last two years with the New York Giants were filled with disappointment and injuries. Once hailed for having the potential to become one of the game's top receivers because of his size and route running skills, Nicks only scored three touchdowns in his last 28 games with the Giants. Many questioned Nicks' effort in 2013, after the Giants decided to reward Victor Cruz with a contract extension rather than Nicks. Whatever the case may be, Nicks failed to get in sync with Eli Manning all year. Now Nicks finds himself in a far better offense with talent surrounding him. Look for Nicks to work hard with Luck and carve himself a nice role. His ability to outperform his 106.74 ADP (nearly identical as Wayne) will be directly related to Wayne's ACL recovery. As your team's WR4, there is little to no risk taking a shot that Nicks gets back to his productivity from three years ago.
Mike Chappell of ABC 6 in Indianapolis has been told by a knowledgeable source that wide receiver Reggie Wayne could be out for a week or two because of his elbow injury. Wayne suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against Cincinnati. He played through it and ended up catching four passes but for only 15 yards and he dropped at least two other targets. On Monday, Wayne underwent an MRI on the elbow, the results of which have not been revealed.
If Wayne misses the next two games, he won't play until after the Colts' bye in Week 10.
Chappell has been covering the Colts for 30 years, so his anonymous-source reports are very much worth heeding. For what it's worth, Wayne said Tuesday that it's "too early" to rule him out for Week 8. He won't practice tomorrow, but he never practices on Wednesdays. Regardless, the 35-year-old probably shouldn't be in your lineups right now. He has scored just five points over the past two weeks in standard leagues and has just one visit to the end zone this year. He is still getting a bunch of targets -- about nine per week -- but he's just not doing much with them. He is only a WR4 at this point. Hakeem Nicks and Donte Moncrief will see more snaps if Wayne misses any time.

|8.11||2006 World Champion - I see Nicks as one of the better sleeper picks. It's all about health with Nicks but he has a lot to prove and a lot of $ on the line. He also has the right QB to succeed in Luck.|
