Mike Goodson, RB, N/A

2013 Outlook: Deep-league Only
Update (8-26): As New York announced Goodson's return on Monday, the team also revealed he will be suspended the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. In May, he was arrested and charged with drugs and weapons possession after police officers found Goodson and a companion passed out in a car. Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell are the Jets primary running backs with Ivory the favorite to dominate touches. He's also likely to miss games with injuries, which is why Goodson had the look of a top-40 RB until his personal life got, um, complicated. Only Ivory owners should even contemplate drafting Goodson and even then only in deep league and then don't. If Ivory/Powell struggle early on, then Goodson becomes a potential waiver wire addition.
Update : Due to his brush with the law back in May, Goodson has yet to report to camp. At this point the Jets don't know if/when Goodson might show up. With just two games remaining and no practice time with the team, it is hard to believe Goodson will play much of a role in the Jets offense this season.
In mid-May Goodson was picked up on a weapons and drug charge, putting the Jets in a rather difficult spot. On one hand, if they let him go, they'll need to take a cap hit for the guaranteed money Mike will receive; while on the other hand, they could have a PR nightmare on their hands. Either way this is not a good situation for Goodson or the Jets. Just when Mike was going to have a chance to get on the field away from a DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart and Darren McFadden he goes and does this. For now we'll assume Goodson is the Jets' third down back and replacement for Ivory once Chris is injured. Until we hear some better news, it is probably best to leave Mike off your fantasy roster.Last updated on Aug-27-2013 by Chris Weeks
