2016 Outlook: Solid/Safe Pick

Last updated on Aug-04-2016 by Shawn Childs

The lack of arm by Peyton Manning led to a career low in yards per catch (12.4). Thomas had his second straight season with 100+ catches and fourth straight year with over 1300 yards receiving. His targets (177) remained at an elite level with a drop off in his catch rate (59.3). His regression in 2015 was due to a sharp decline in TDs (6) after scoring 35 TDs in his last 48 games. Demaryius had four 100 yard receiving games and 11 games with double digits targets. His game offered no upside in the playoffs (seven catches for 60 yards on 21 targets in three games). His lack of QB paints a bleak picture for Fantasy owners leading a drop in draft value (17th WR off the board). His resume is long, and his talent is elite. He can't help but catch 90+ balls for 1300+ yards with upside in TDs. I view him as excellent value in 2016 based on his early draft ADP (22.3), and I trust Sanchez and this coaching staff enough to make this winning bet.

Month Position Franchise/Comments
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #1
June 12th, 2016
3.01 Benny Ricciardi - DT as a WR3 is pretty solid on any team. WR are so important in a PPR and we can start three in this league.
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #2
June 27th, 2016
3.06 Mastersball - Perry Van Hook - Thomas did not have a great year in 2015 for many reasons but he has admitted that, and is set to prove his place this season among the top wideouts in the game. (That said I might have taken Eddie Lacy here had he lasted one more pick)
2016 FFToolbox Mock Draft #3
August 10th, 2016
2.09 Scout Fantasy - Corey Parson - Thomas floor in a point per reception league is a WR 1, I, not buying huge regression from Thomas because of shaky QB play. Thomas is a steal in the second and third round of drafts.
