2014 Outlook: Stud (low risk)Last updated on Jul-15-2014 by Rusty Reeves
Stud: That's simply the best way to describe Thomas. The Broncos led wideout caught 92 balls for 1,430 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2013. The scary thing is with running mate Eric Decker chasing the coin to New York, Thomas could actually improve on those numbers in 2014. He's playing in an offense that put up historic numbers last year with one of the best QBs ever to play the game throwing him the ball. To make things even more scary, he has the drive to get better. Working out with the likes of Calvin Johnson and A.J. Green in the offseason, Thomas is doing the things needed to continue to improve. By the way, he's only 26 years old and is technically in the midst of his prime.
Editor's note: Thomas was a beast in college and everybody knew it. It's crazy to think two of the best WRs in the NFL are from Georgia Tech (Thomas and Megatron), a school not exactly known to be a powerhouse. Thomas can do a little bit of everything and (most importantly) that includes being a prolific deep threat. Thomas is one of a handful of receivers who could realistically finish as fantasy's top WR.
Those who tuned in to see if Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning would become the NFL's all-time leader in touchdown passes Sunday night didn't have to wait that long. Manning threw three first-half scores against the 49ers, the last of which was the record-breaker to Demaryius Thomas. In all, Manning threw four touchdowns on the night and now has 510 passing touchdowns in his career, two more than the previous record-holder, Brett Favre.Fantasy Analysis:
Manning completed 22 of 26 passes, averaged more than 12 yards per throw and simply dissected the Niners' injury-riddled defense. He could have had more if San Fran had kept the game competitive in the second half, but the Broncos called off the dogs after they entered the fourth quarter with a 42-10 lead.
Peyton may not match last year's insane stats ... but he's probably going to come close. He's on pace for more than 4,900 yards and 51 touchdowns. Last year, he threw for 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns. Manning even has a greater completion percentage and yards-per-attempt average this season. His current contract runs through 2016, and it looks like he'll reach the end of that deal with plenty to give. Manning is just a relentless machine on the field, and at this rate, he'll be playing at an elite level into his 40s.
